Surgery
On stage 3 mesothelioma, surgery is generally palliative. With operable
tumors, only the best option to relieve the symptoms of suffering and aid in
patient quality of life that is better is just another surgery. However,
surgery may be the primary tumor could lift only. But because the cancer has
spread through the blood or lymphatic system to other organs, surgery will not
be able to remove the cancer cells remain.
The location of the tumor or tumors to determine whether the operation is a
selection of the best or even potentially detrimental to the patient's overall
health.
At this stage 3 mesothelioma, surgery is entirely dependent on the type of
mesothelioma and the individual. If viewed in most cases, surgery is not a
choice.
Radiation Therapy
For patients with stage 3 mesothelioma, radiation therapy can also provide
relief of symptoms. Although radiation therapy would normally inhibit cell
metastasis, but radiation therapy might be able to specifically target areas of
the body where the location of the tumor is associated with Mesothelioma stage
3 which is very painful and severely affects the quality of life of the
patient.
Radiation at this stage of the mesothelioma only provides palliative care.
Thoracentesis / Paracentesis / Pericardiocentesis
Thoracentesis is a palliative treatment option for patients with pleural
mesothelioma, where excess fluid drained from his lungs. Paracentesis to drain
excess fluid is also built in the stomach of patients with peritoneal
mesothelioma. While the fluid channels of pericardiocentesis mesothelioma pericardium.
Such treatments can relieve pain and pressure, but cannot cure the disease.
Palliative Care
Plan for palliative care is the individual method and target the specific
issues facing each patient's face. They almost always include any component of
pain management, however, to ensure that the patient's condition does not
suffer.
Medical professionals can also prescribe changes in lifestyle and diet that
aims to improve the comfort of the patient itself. Maintaining hydration and
proper nutrition is very important. Although many conventional treatment
options, such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy, only to be robbed of
important vitamins and minerals that are needed by the body.
The emotional impact on patients with stage 3 Mesothelioma may be more
painful when compared to the disease itself. Not only for patients, but perhaps
also for loved ones and people who give care. Counseling can be the most
important part of any plan for palliative care.
Combining alternative therapies in conventional palliative care plan is
also a choice. For example, massage therapy can provide temporary relief to
patients to relieve pain in the muscles and tissues of the joint. However, most
alternative therapies given will only provide comfort in the short term and is
not a substitute for conventional treatment.
